May god bless all our veterans past and present, as well as active members. You have my solemn admiration and never ending appreciation.

After the service I payed these lads a visit. I would hazard a guess most people think all our war dead are overseas.........Thousands died on this side as well. Training accidents, U-boat patrol, sinkings by U-boat, ferrying aircraft overseas etc.
Notice the large spaces between grave. There were a large number of US servicemen interred here but were re-interred to home after the war, leaving the gaps.

Lest we forget.

Words can say what our service men and women have done and still do for our country.

Thank you

Good on your daughter, we need more youth like this.

My son is to young but after Scouts is Joining the Cadets(By his choice) and then wants to be in the Canadian Forces, a choice I can easily accept.

We went to the Airdrie ceremony at the new Genesis Canter and I was pleasantly surprised that there was no where to stand left by 15 minutes to showtime. Good turn out.

Honour Respect Remember

Attended the Field Of Crosses on Memorial Dr (Calgary) for todays Ceremonies. I've been attended this Service for the last few years, seeing the Crosses seems to make it more real, especially for people/families who have no direct connection to anyone who Served.

I was placing a Poppy on one of the Crosses when a lady with a young family asked me about my Service (Decorations/beret must have given me away) and why I was placing a Poppy on this one particular Cross. I went on to explain that the Fallen Soldier was a Provost, a Sgt in fact, same trade/rank as I was.
She looked at the Cross, looked around at all the Crosses and simply said...'they were all so young'...and began to cry. Enough Said

Default Remembrance Day

There are those who would come and take our freedom and way of life away from us. But thankfully, there are those among us who stand ready to stop them.

With the greatest respect and unwavering gratitude, I thank all who protect us, both in past and present, and in war and peace.

Mac
