Default Steel leader material?

I'm having a hard time tracking down wire for making leaders and quick strike rigs. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find some. I prefer single strand in the 30-40 lb range but would be ok with multi strand material as well.

got mine at the fishn hole though I'm not sure if it is seasonal or not there. Probably should give them a call.

I have also used Knot 2 Kinky for the same purposes as well.

Thanks, the last couple times I've been there I didn't see any, next time I go to town I'll check again.

You can also get multi strand wire at Michaels. Some of it is tie-able. Just marketed for the crafts people.

May not be heavy enough for some people though.

I don't run really heavy tackle, so that might work, just wondering if anyone has used steel trolling line for leaders? That stuff doesn't seem to be too hard to find, despite the fact I've never seen anyone use it.

I have been doing my own leaders for quite a while and i used to use the usual leader material that you could just twist and then melt/bond together over a candle - for a roll of that is around 4 bucks i thi k...

Lately though i have been moving more towards the ball bearing swivels and nicer clips and using titanium single strand (kinky) 25 pound. I will give you some warning that any of the smaller diameter/poundages for the titanium lines are so small that even a #1 crimp isnt small enough to do the job(and a sidenote that these are only rated for ten pound if you are so inclined to try and double back over itself - which i found also did not work. So you will be needing to learn to tie a few of their specific knots with this type of a leader. The problem im having now is how to finish the tag end of the knot nicely so it doesnt either slip or snag on weeds. The titanium is super nice, but so far is turning out to be a little bit of a pain... but maybe better then spending a minimum of $7 per leader. The roll of the kinky wire is $15.

Both of these are at fishin hole south side, not sure about west.

I know a lot more info then you asked but didnt want you to go theough what i have been finding out the hard way.

Good luck!
