nothing wrong with having a big gun, as long as you can handle it and aren't scared of the kick. My thoery is use the biggest gun you can handle for some times you need the extra penetration or range.

moverly the question you have to ask yourself is :
does the shot your gonna take feel good ?
doesnt matter what caliber it is 270 30-30,
30-06 or my fave 338win mag learn what to expect from your
weapon if you dont like it dont take the shot save him for next year
all the mentioned calibers {my opinion only} are used for different cicumstances
