Tks guys, the credit for the backdrop goes to my 4 year old daughter. I let her pick out of about 15 colours, and low and behold she picked pink and purple.

Want to try these out this year on small waters.

Size 16 I think, haven't tried it out yet. Caddis should be coming on soon in the pot hole lakes, thought it would be fun to try and catch one skating this across the surface. Speaking of feathers, I harvested the CDC off of mallards I shot myself.

Same here, DNA fiber is my favorite. I also like Big Fly fiber. Nice looking clousers you have there!

Thanks! hope to nail some walleye with them.
I tied up some variations on the craft fur and DNA patterns for the girlfriend's father. Hope he gets some big bulls and I get some brownie points 
anyhoo... I stuck an orange ice dub throat on them with the hope that they get mistaken for a cuttie

Was my own design, but found something similar on another website as I expanded my search for a damsel imitation. Doesn't swim like I envisioned, am moving towards a model with a lot of marabou. If a guy could ever get a nice swimming damsel I think you'd be gold.

I imagine the ass end hangs down like it is in the photo? Maybe try some green foam palmered on the trailer instead of thread and wire?

No the ass end follows behind like it's supposed to, it just doesn't have the movement like I had hoped. It did work quit well in the tub, but I could work it with the line in my hand and have visual feed back, when I can't see it and with all the line out it losses that intimate touch.
I spent an early morning couple of hours laying on the bridge to the island at Police Outpost many years ago. One of the things I learned as I lay there, watching trout pick off damsels two feet under my nose is they get very keyed in on the wiggle. I had a hairs ear on a leader that I would toss out when a trout would cruise by, they zip right up to it observe the fly, same as the damsels, and they would wait for the wiggle. The second a damsel wiggle he'd get sucked down, my fly would get stared at for about 15 seconds and even little twitches would not elicit a strike, it needed a wiggle which I didn't have. Was actually quite the magical morning even though I didn't catch anything, still remember all of it all these years later.
As my damsel imitations keep failing and the nondescript woolly bugger keeps catching fish, I begin to wonder why. It has to be the sensuous dance of the marabou.
My lack of success with damsel imitation is starting to turn into an obsession.

Thinking out loud...
Maybe the foam would add more wiggle too? The heavier head pulling down on a pause and ass popping up and when you strip the head would pop back up? Thinking something similar to Lafontaine's worm made of marabou and foam...

Nice scud, but just for fun put a black bead on it and use red wire. Then try Bullshead with it, let us know.
I lost all the scuds I had in that particular variation

I think you're on the right track with more marabou?
Your prototype looks great,but if it doesn't have the movement you're looking for....??
Maybe just change(reverse?) the ratio of marabou:solid on the rear section?As in 66:33 or even 75:25 marabou:solid body to give it more wiggle and motion??
