Was out fishing Chain lake south today, had a good day. Question is has anyone else out there found that the fish a white not pink inside.
Fried them up and they tasted like mud..
Gramps
The reason trout meat gets pink is due to a pigment found in the scuds/shrimp (Gammarus) they eat. If the fish have been feeding on something else, like snails or pellets from the hatchery, the flesh will be white.
I agree, every fish I have caught from there tastes like crap. Can't give you a very good reason, I figured it was just in summer but I also tried them last winter and they were muddy tasting and soggy.
Wow. I have eaten many trout from lots of different lakes and rivers and I consider the trout in Chain during the winter to be very tasty. Try butter, a little batter on the fish and some green onions mixed in. Yummy!
