I’m not into to harvesting mushrooms to eat however I know some are. So my question is...are their Fall varieties that are edible? They have chopped down a ton of rotten poplar trees in Sundance lake park and there was an explosion of mushrooms this year. I should of taken more photos. There was one I didn’t photograph that was tall and skinny with a pronounced cap like an umbrella. To me it just screamed poisonous.
Here are a few others.

That first one is a shaggy mane, I believe which are good to eat, they grow fast and turn into a odd looking umbrella shape that has a black ink type of appearance. Not certain on the other two.
The first one is a shaggy mane, to me you have to treat them like corn, get water boiling then pick corn. So prep to cook your shaggy's, pick newly popped up smallish ones, cut em, and cook em right away.
I'd say you're right. Looks like a common ink cap and pleated ink cap.
There were tons of the shaggy manes around
