cleaning up my traps

bringing in my leg holds some are showing signs of surface rust need cleaned up should i boil them in gillets lye & water and speed dip now on wait till next fall like to keep my gear in good shape any sugestions will be appreciated will speed dip be ok on coyote traps

I boil minein log wood dye then dip in paraffin in the summer use a turkey fryer setup but be careful with the wax it cant get too hot or it burns I don't do any dips on footholds anymore
