Default Ice fishing for perch on Sherburn Resevior (grassy lake)

Any advice? I have heard good rumors and I can't wait for the hard water so I can try it out.

20 feet deep straight out from the boat launch with a little jig and either worms or small minnows. caught a ton of them last year and can't wait for them again this year.

Yes, watch out for pike! If you have a camera, it's neat to wach as the perch disappear suddenly, then all of a sudden there is a big pike or school of walleye heading your way. I always have another rod ready setup and ready to go sitting behind me, real up the ultralite and reel down your medium one and try to catch the pike.

I'm gonna do that this winter. Not wild about the slew sharks, but would hate to miss a walleye like that!

Had the camera down in the water from my boat and I had a whole school of Perch swimming along with my camera as I was slowly drifting. Then boom they were all gone so I start to spin the camera around and next thing I know I'm staring eye to eye with a big ass Pike.

Umm im thing they did not summer kill was not warm enough and water levels were fine..... if anything they would have summer killed last summer when the temps were so high and all the white fish died.....and thats just cause the surface temp was very warm...... last winter we caught lots of perch. It will be another good hard water season for perch on grassy this winter.

LOL Dodger....I'm sure sherburne is fine, it's a big lake. As for Chestemere, just outside (east) of Calgary. Good for winter pike, that's about it.

Default Fishing for perch at Sherburn Reservoir

On Oct 2, 2009 2 of us went perch fishing at Sherburn. Found perch anywhere from 14 to 48 feet deep. We both went home with our limit. (15 each) Most were over 10 inches. I even had a double header. We have fished many times this summer and have bagged our limit almost every time.

Definitely no summer kill and there are lots of small ones that hatched this spring.

I'm hoping for a little less snow this winter so that the access road is actually accessable!!!
