Default Butchers Lake

So my goal for this Saturday is to knock a species off of my "to catch" list. I want to try for brookies at Butcher lake. I see that they stocked it again this year will little brookies, and I know brookie fishing is hottest at dawn or slightly before dawn. But that is all I know.
Does anyone know about the road access in? Or parking?
Any tips on catching brookies would be greatly appreciated too Thanks!

Its all oil well access roads from the shell gas plant so I think you are at there mercy for how clear the roads will be, I cant imagine you will have a problem. the lake itself gets hit by the wind pretty good so i would imagine its mostly either blown away by now or will be melted within the next couple days.

Great, thanks for the info! Will be sure to take the 4x4 just in case.

Any tips on catching brookies? I was gonna try a small minnow on a jig head, or meal worms, or worms on a small hook. Never caught them before, but I am guessing they will like what rainbows like.

We were there last Saturday. There are a lot of them out there. Corn seemed to work pretty well for us. They liked to hit the split shot above my hook too. Worms on a small hook or jig should be the trick.

The roads were pretty clear and you should have no problems getting to the lake. We'll be out there again this week with the kids. Should be fun.

shrimp, or velveeta worx best , be very careful where you use minnows, unless I misread the regs you can only legaly use them in a couple lakes in this zone.

Go south of Pincher Creek on the #6. Turn right on the Waterton Shell Complex road, (marked). Stay on this road past the gas plant and it will take you right to the lake. Lake is on the left hand side, right beside the road.
