Nice Burb on the Bow.
Was flyfishing in the bowness area catching acouple whites when i can accross this guy laying on the bottem next to a log in about 5ft of water. Wasnt sure what to do so i tried several worm and leach imitations no go, then i put on a white maribo streamer and a split shot and just bounced it right infront of his face and he inhaled it. Wasnt much fight but, cool fish none the less and my first burb ever, wasnt expecting to come across this on the bow much less in the NW. Couldnt quite get an accurate measurment on him as you know how slipperly they are and like to curl, but my net is 24 inches long, so im guessing maybe 26", 27"

Nice fish, Ive caught them in the past up to 8 pounds just downstream from there, back when you could use bait. Lots of them around when the river is high and muddy.

Cool pic's. I have only ever caught one in the bow and that was down by the 22x 10-11 years ago.

Nice burb for a first one! Like you said, probably not much for a fight but at least it's something different eh? I'd love to hook into one of those on my flyrod just to say I did lol.

NO, i didnt have the heart to, i was to grossed out and unprepared, so i let him slip away back into his hidding hole to be caught again. I only practice catch and release on the bow, plus i had no idea what to do with him skinning and cooking wise.

Its possible, but prob not a fish you should target to catch on the bow as there are so few of them. I have fished the bow for 5-6 years now and this is the first one i have see/caught. Plus it took me about half an hour of trying different lures for him to take it even though he was lying right at my feet.
You never know you might get lucky and come across one some day.
Cheers.

They are so pretty, seriously, sometimes the markings are a tourquoisy green,, if I got a tattoo it would be a Burbot. I'd like to see the take home limit reduced on them. The record for them is around 20 pounds,,, years ago in MacGregor (when they were considered a garbage fish and people discarded them onshore) my Dads friend caught a 31 pound Burb and it's head was 11 inches in diameter and it's length was 50inches and it broke his rod after half an hour.
