Does anyone know what the exact name of those 2 way radios where you can manually enter the frequency with the key pad on mic? ie 166.240 etc And before someone posts I all ready know they are illegal in Canada.

Yes A "Opened up TX radio" is illegal. But to answer the question. just about any of them have the ability if they have A numeric key pad on the mic. Search Ham radio mods to do the changes yourself if you choose. Would look at Mods.dk Personally like the Icoms Run A 2200 right now.

They're called vhf or 2meter radios.

yaesu ft1900r/e, kenwood tk7180 (I think), etc etc.

Not sure what the penalty is for getting nailed with one...I'm guessing probably something on the order of 20 years of waterboarding or something. Unless you use one to commit a heinous crime...then probaby 5 months probation.

I use to have a handheld and the chick from Canada Dept of Anal Busybodies Unable to Get Real Jobs, kept pestering me to renew my registration (like 35 bucks a year or something for the privilege of using Canadian air).
