Default Telus hub

Does anybody have and feedback on using Telus hub for their rural internet? I'm moving out to the Millet area shortly and looking for internet options. It'll just be for netflix/youtube an the wife on FB. Thanks

10 times faster than 2 other providers i've tried. Works good, rarely have to reset.

It's not too bad. Once in a while, Friday nights for example, it bogs down if everyone in the area s streaming movies etc. But like already said, it's better than what Xplornet had a few years ago for my area by a long shot, and cheaper with realistic amounts of data for the cost. Just make sure your Telus cell signal is good there first.

I was under the impression that hub did not work this way. I have it and it’s been great so far. I have 2 bars of signal on my phone at my place.

We had Telus, switched to CCI and no regrets, unlimited use for a set fee, unlike the Telus plan which made it prohibitive in terms of data to view much of anything. About the third week, you'd get flagged and billed for extra use.

If you get too many in your area, on your tower, it slows down when if too many are on it at the same time with each doing heavy use.

Ours was great early on, now I notice slow downs more often at peak times.

It replies on cell service so if you have bad reception in your area it will not work well for you. The speeds also go down quite a bit if a lot of people are using them or their phones.

When they first introduced them into Grande Cache a lot of people went for them since they advertised something like 25/10 or 25/25 for speed while the best you could get from normal internet was 3/1 on a perfect day (1/0.5 was not uncommon). Everybody signed up and flooded the network. If you could connect you would only get 3/1 or 5/1 with a really bad ping. Telus actually had to refund tons of people because they never got advertised speeds or even reached the minimums.

We switched to the Telus hub about 18 months ago and never looked back. I can’t remember even one instance when our internet was down.

We have it and I find it is just ok but that’s due to high volume in my area around Onoway. The cool thing with the hub is we take it on road trips and plug into an inverter so the kids can stream while we drive (keeps them quieter). For me the alternative is explornet and they suck.
