Default Todays Groups and a Big shout out to Carson at Jimbows

Hey guys I just wanted to say Carson has been helping me out the last little while getting me rigged up and tuned. What a great shop and Awesome service as well! I am very happy going there and it is worth the long drive for me.
I put aside the Axis arrows and ended up going to VAP. What a difference I can tell already. They hit harder and they are getting me some really great groups.
After a bit of a sight in I was punching yellow all morning. I'm feeling a bit more confident and I can't wait to take it outside and shoot further with it and see how it goes.

And as a side not here are a few groups I shot a few days ago in the rain and the real high cross wind we had. I was happy it was nasty and it gave me an idea of what to expect in high winds.

The first target is at 40 yards. Even at 40 yards it pushed my arrows over a fair bit.

At 60 yards it was real interesting. I had to aim at the far right of the target. The first arrow hit right close to where I was aiming. Maybe the wind stopped just for a split second or maybe the shot was just real bad but it hit where I aimed.
The rest of them varied and mostly averaged about center of the target on multiple groups. There were a few in between ones from far right to center as well.
Just an idea of what wind does at 60 yards.
These groups were with my Axis arrows. I'll see what I can do with the VAP next.

Excellent shooting!

Hey Nube, something you may want to try just to see the effects would be
to set up a wind block big enough to shield your bow and bow arm at the
point where you stand.

I've noticed my bow catch a stiff wind and could feel
the push in my bow arm. Wondered just how much off the arrows got pushed
by the wind or maybe more so my arm was pushed by the wind ?

Only way the results of a test like this would be of help in a hunting situation
might be if you happen to be on a stand in say a valley to lead to an open field
perhaps.

Interesting Idea and ya it would be good info. I figured most guys don't practice in the type of weather we had the other day so I figured I may as well post my findings.

Practice shooting from your knees too, I have found half of the animals I have shot have been off my knees. Especially when doing spot and stalk.

Yep, I also practice shooting from my knees, and also sitting on a five gallon pail as well (about the height of seat in tree stand). You want always get to stand up and take that perfect form shot.
