Default Where is this coin from?

I was emptying the change from my pockets on the weekend and found this coin. Same size as a quarter. Does anyone know where it’s from?IMG_2203.jpgIMG_2204.jpg

Thanks guys! I’ve never seen one before. It looks to be worth as much as a wooden nickel!

If it's the same size as a quarter, I think I know what it has been used for.

I spent most of 1997 living in Brazil and had some Brazilian coins accompany me back home.
They made kind of a funny grinding noise when I inserted them in the parking meter and twisted the crank!

Very possible it was minted in Canada . Canada has made currency for over 73 countries over the years !

What I'm curious about, is what happened in Thailand that you can't remember, but have change left over...?

Hopefully he didn't meet any friends there who tuned out to have a bhat that he wasn't expecting!

Dollarama seems to like giving some change back as coins from foreign countries especially ones the same size as quarters and loonies.. Most times when we get change back on purchases we just put it in our pockets without looking at it.
