Default How to get a machine from the USA

I need to get a machine tool from the USA. It's about 130lb, and packaged, would fit on a 36" by 36" pallet. Quotes by DHL, UPS etc. are a tad ridiculous. They are actually much more than the item is worth.

Does anybody have any suggestions for more reasonable shipping?

Thanks

Ask the seller if they use a shipper/broker. State side can often provide more reasonable charge.

Have it shipped to a warehouse in Sweetgrass MT and go pick it up yourself. You'll save a ton.

Does USPS do LTL shipping? If so they would be your best bet.

Other as pikergolf said.

When I was bringing up pallets of wheels from LA regular I would use CSA Transport and they would charge between $225 to $275 per pallet delivered to my door in Calgary depending on weight.

I hear this often but depending where you are located, I just don't usually see the savings. I think driving from Calgary, the cost of the fuel both ways, maybe stopping for a bite to eat, the days time, etc, unless I am saving a LOT of money, for the one or two hundred bucks of savings it just isn't worth it.

That said, you live near the border or driving through already or picking up a ton of items etc, I could see it, but not just for a single item usually.

Call J&R Hall Transport in Calgary or Edmonton. I worked for them 20 years ago. They do cross border LTL skid freight or could at least point you in the right direction.

Obviously this depends on the shipping costs.

This worked very well for me. 130 lb package from Missoula, MT to Calgary, $150 Canadian. Even had the hy-drop to set it in my yard. Good Luck.

Where in the US is this freight located? I have a database full of carriers that might be able to help out.
