Wash outs?
Looking like the sheep, elbow and highwood all took big hits last night after looking at the streamflow charts. Really too bad because a couple of those rivers were looking nearly ready to fish this week

Was out west of Turner Valley yesterday and it was raining hard and the Sheep was a high, muddy mess. Highwood is way up and mud as well. Was hoping to float the Bow July 5th. and I'm starting to have doubts. Will be sticking to lakes for a while I guess. Rick.

Was talk yesterday of the Crowsnest Pass area and north getting ~80mm of rain... Haven't checked how much they did get, but that will make some rivers swell in a real hurry.

It didn't feel like we had this many consecutive days of rain last year. Not sure about the amount of precipitation for comparison though. There's a couple of sections of Bow I'd like to try once the level is somewhat back to normal. Can hardly wait.

I'll tell you on thing, it felt like ~80 mm of rain... it was relentless, the rivers are totally blown out at this point.... sigh.

Ya I'm not surprised. When I looked last night, that area had received upwards of 65mm by 11pm or so. That amount of rain and a little run-off could make getting around south of the K- country interesting.

Hahaha Even Allen Bill and Chain Lakes look like choclate milk!
Only place I been to this weekend that wasnt a disaster was elbow lake.
The poor trout in there look like they are starving though. I caught a couple small ones. One of them had a pretty large head and a very tiny body.

From another thread to give you an idea:
"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dace,
That section's flow rate peaked at 1091.214 m3/second at 6:00 AM on Sunday (June 24) and rose 2 metres in 24 hrs.
THEN IT BLEW OUT!!!
By 10:00 AM flow was down to 15.152 m3/second and water level dropped 3.5 metres.
When you took the photo is was down to 15.117 m3/s and and water levels remained the same.
Would have been a sight to see that morning.
p.s. Normal discharge this time of year is 15 - 40 m3/second for that section. "
