It was my birthday on Saturday so we headed out to our place by Winchell Lake to have a barbeque. One of my bodies showed up early so after some negotiations with my wife she gave us a half hour to fish before the rest of the guests showed up.
When we got down to the lake I was a little surprised with the number of people down there considering it had not been stocked yet, but I figured that was a sign that at least a few fish wintered, and sure enough the third cast my buddy got a hit and I managed to catch one in our short time frame.
A nice little birthday fish, and to make it better it was the first fish I caught on my new fly rod I picked up last fall.
Nothing makes me feel young like catching a little rainbow trout out of that lake. The first fish I ever caught was out of Winchell about 31 years ago.
