Default people throwing things into lake

just an informative note to boaters. I was fishing travers res and cruising around 50 mph and noticed something in the water. It turned out to be a propane tank 20lb. Cant imagine hitting that at 50.I removed it and proceeded but was totally shocked someone would throw that into the lake.

Can't believe someone would throw that into the lake. Kudos for taking it out!

Nothing surprises me anymore. Glad OP didn't hit it and nice of him to pull it out. Have to wonder if it could have exploded if hit a certain way.

Good Lord, that's a naval mine! Never encountered something like that, hope I never do. Maybe there's an entire RV at the bottom of the lake...

Glad you're ok.

Found beer cans, clothes, trash, oil jugs and even a running shoe ...... can't say I've ever seen a propane bottle ....... wowzers ...... that could leave a dent in the hull and wreck the leg or prop.

Some people just are total morons.

But not you right? Think about it, Mr. lots-to-say. Who brings their garbage onboard just so they can throw it over the rail? Ever load your Tyee up with trash and create a hazard for yourself as well as others?

Present company excluded right?

WAs that bottle new? Empty? stale dated? Maybe that cylinder rolled down a beach or fell off a dock. Maybe the guy who is missing his $65.00 item is angry about leaving it lay around for the wind to blow it away. Or for a dark skinned foreign national to steal so he could pollute the waters he fishes in.

Lots of posts on this site about poachers at Travers but none about dbags throwing trash over the spillway or overboard. How about all you smokers. Do you all carry an ashtray or do you toss your filthy butts into the water?

Ever had your hat or an empty bait container blow out of your boat at 50mph? Did you turn around to retrieve it? Did you even notice that your sandwich wrapper went into the water?

Some people should just STFU

Good job man.No matter how it got into the water nice to see you took the time to pick up instead of waiting for someone else to grab it. We need more guys like you out there.

Good to hear it was taken out before someone hit it, that would definitely leave a mark.

On the other side of the coin, Travers can get pretty windy. Perhaps an empty bottle blew into the lake from one of the cottages, without anyone around to notice it missing before it was halfway down the lake.

Default People throwing thing into lake

I watched a guy take a 12 volt battery out of his boat one day and drop it over the side into the lake. I went over and reamed him a new a..hole. He looked at me like I had caught him with his hand down the front of his pants. Never underestimate the laziness and disrespect of some of the rubes out there.

Maybe it fell off a pontoon boat or something so also secure your stuff when out on the lake even the girlfriend unless she is the catch and release type!

The thing that gets my alarm bells ringing it that no one can be certain the OP is not telling it like he sees it. He might actually believe this story.
And the propane tank in a lake is very possible.

But there is just so much potential for disagreement. It's almost as if the OP intended to get people arguing.

If it were a beer can and some fishermen drifting along found it, would it be any less of an issue ? It wouldn't would it, but there would be nothing to argue about either would there.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are the target of some really unscrupulous people.
People who have nothing better to do with their time then to start trouble.

I can tell you beyond a shadow of doubt they are here.

Is this one, I don't really know, but I don't like the smell of this one.

wowsers.

Good work OP taking it out!

I am not sure how the tank gets in there. Part of me thinks maybe it fell out, or was not intentionally put there.

Then you come accross some spots and it looks like a land fill...

Was the tank full?

The more important question.. did you catch any fish??
