No fishing after sunset

Can someone explain to me the reasoning behind the no fishing after sunset rule on some Alberta lakes.

interesting, so how about the winter, with many more hours of darkness, and people fishing in private tents or shacks? poachers afraid of the cold?just curious, Ive wondered at the reasoning myself.

It could be (and this is just a personal opinion) that the biologists are trying to protect the Walleye population as much as possible. The larger Walleye feed primarily at night and if you want to protect your large breeding stock it makes sense to restrict fishing during their prime feeding time.

I suppose people are able to cover more water and distance in the summer...But you do make a good point Wayne...just think there would be less of an impact through a couple of holes, and the fish are less active in the winter -generally speaking- summer nights- the walleye are easier to catch after sunset and before sunrise in shallower water and people can dissapear in a hurry. No getting stuck in the snow or leaving tracks even mantracker could follow...

Poaching is bad, fishing at night bad, Commercial fishing on some Alberta lakes, Oh that's ok, as long as the someone makes some money. I still can't figure that one out?
