Default Gutless Method...Where to put the tag?

Tag goes in the tendon of the hind leg like always. My assumption would be that you should be hauling the tagged leg with tail and scrotum attached to it out of the bush with you? Am I correct that this is the way people are doing it these days? In the past I have always just deboned and skinned when I got home. Will probably still do it this way but just wondering in case the situation arises.

You should be hauling it all out of the bush at some point but you are correct in that the quarter with the tag on it should be the same one that identifies sex.

Yes, take the rear leg/hip that is tagged out complete with evidence of sex and species (tail) attached is the easiest way to not raise any questions.

There's no point in taking out the leg complete. Completely bone out the rear leg that has evidence of sex attached and then poke a hole through the large tendon and attach your tag there. It cuts down on a few more pounds you don't have to pack out.

Question. So you are in sheep camp, harvest a nice deer, want to full body taxidermy. Skin, flesh, salt hide is normal. How would you tag in this situation?
