Looks like some length difference on the g2's and g4's stopped you from being almost exactly on with your field judge. Still an awesome bull.

Beautiful looking elk !! Can only dream there's one inside the base like that with my name on it .last elk I shot at was 20 years ago and missed it.it was a nice one .I lost sleep for years wishing I could take that shot over !! A bull like that and I would sleep soundly

In a 3 day hunt there's going to be 24 hours of legal shooting time. Who can honestly say they would pass on a bull like this to look for a 380" bull.

Question

Another seemingly dumb question - Does one HAVE to wear Red / Blaze Orange or will Whites suffice?

Wondering...

I drew Nov 30-Dec 2nd on a P2. I am very excited to go. I honestly don't know what to expect. I was wondering if anyone knows if were allowed a buddy to tag along and help with the packing out and what not. Also i heard the nearest motels are in Med Hat.. Is this true??

I wish I would have only chose the November opener, with our group of 3 the lowest priority was an 8 , then a 10 and 12..even though the group draw takes lowest priority we got 3rd choice and last season at the end of January.?

I believe you can bring a helper yes !
I was there outside the base and saw approx. 100 Bulls, some 300's and maybe pushing it a 350", but there is some growing time still.

I got a little recording in on the edge of the base in the last 10 mins of camera light...I am sure theres a pile of AO members who live down that way doing the same , but their playing their cards right and doing the Hush hush thing..

Good luck to all and hopefully one day they will get with the times like Wainwright does and allow us to take field photos and videos of the hunt....after all you can Google earth all you want of the base.

Unfilled lol when 14 tags issued to one family

I've been out on the base hunt 2 times and there is no shortage of bulls I would say an easy 1500-2000. Bulls in the north cows in the south

What size would a guy say is the majority of the bulls there? Rag Horn to 5 point 2.5 year olds? I don't have a tag there, but could the area even sustain 700 5 point and greater bulls being shot?

The amount and size of elk on the base is unexplainable. You need to see it in person to believe it. When you come over a hill and bam 500+ bull elk how long do you take to pick the one you want before someone else comes along and just shoots one and they all run away. I think there will be a mix of big and small ones taken. Bottom line is the full bull and cow quota needs to be filled to stop the increase in herd size.

I want to hunt the base for this reason, that's why I went for the cow draws last year when it wouldn't affect priority but not this season.
I'd like it for the meat and experience, but am in no position priority wise to hunt the bulls due to focusing priority on cow elk tags last few years.

I've seen many pics, but definitely need to see it in person. Was even thinking of making a vacation out of just driving down and driving the perimeter of the base to gawk at the bulls.

I sure hope the quota gets filled, kinda why I was kicking around asking the size and hoping it gets filled since it's supposed to be for management purposes over trophy. I think that it will be hard for most to pull the trigger on a 5x5 or lesser until the last day of the hunt as a result. I sure hope no tags go unfilled for this reason. Will be real interesting to see how this all plays out being the first season of it's kind and how the animals react!

0's were drawn in the late hunts so you could of had a chance this year. Next year it will darn near be a random tag with the amount of priority points that were wiped out.

Iron Noggin you have seen this i believe already , so for the rest of you It's sharing time, this is one of the spread out groups i saw...I only had 10 minutes of camera light so i caught a few clips , this is one that doesn't reveal the location for the Bow Hunters that may be targeting them soon off the base.
Enjoy..

Wow the first naysayer ??? It wasn't on the base, Its neighbouring the base....
Whats so special about it really ?? is that a real question..These Elk live on the base and feed on Joe Ranchers property ....Joe Rancher is not real happy about it. Thus the need to control numbers .

Kinda have a chip on your shoulder for only being here for a short time , enjoy the post and try not to be a critic.

Many good people have left here completely or just plain quite posting over posts like this
