Default Joint noise/ cracking

So weird question for everyone this morning.

But have you ever experienced excessive joint noise, popping, or cracking? If so, what have you done to alleviate it?

Had a doe within 20 yrds last night, reached to grab my bow and my elbow popped. Loud enough that she bolted. Started paying attention to the noise my joints were making, and I figured I would try to reduce is.

Any ideas?

The sound of a joint cracking/popping is caused by by the formation of air pockets in worn joints as they move around. I would suggest 15 minutes of stretching/light exercise/yoga before going out to the tree stand in the morning. I would also pick up a Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM supplement. They are almost always packaged in one tablet. I get mine for myself and my dog at Costco. While the supplement likely won't have much of an effect on you this season, over a time frame of about 6-7 months Glucosamine doses of around 1500mg have been shown to help establish new cartilage and ligament structures in worn out joints. Fish oils will likely make your brain work a little better and make your skin smooth, but it likely won't help your joints (no offence to the poster)

HAAAAAA!!! Father time is starting to catch up to you. It happens to all of us. I have the same thing happen over the years. I take Magnesium citrate, and Lakota joint repair. It takes a few days of it in your system to notice any benefits, but it sure works well for me.

It's old age setting in man, I've got the same problem. Good news is, I hear it goes away once your hearing fails....

I would go with the Costco glucosamine, lots of people have suggested it to me, even my family doctor.

Ever heard cattle walk? Notice all that cracking they make? That's what my can ankles sound like.
It's not just age. I've had that since I was in junior high. I was very active in athletics and it didn't go away until I was no longer active. Then I got injured (vehicle collision), did lots of physiotherapy, started activities again, and no cracking! Hmm... what changed? I was less tense from all the physio AND my exercises changed to target strengthening specific muscles. I now notice if I get an imbalance in my strength or if I have tightness, I can get cracking again in all sorts of places. You might be surprised what a back or neck can sound like. I think keeping fit and limber (whether workouts, yoga, stretching, or whatever) is key!
Good luck

I sound like a small arms skirmish when walking in the bush. Still fill the tags.

stay still when this happens when your putting the stalk on a critter,

Deer, Elk and Moose make the same sounds with their own joints when walking/turning

They are ALL used to the sound of clicking joints,,,

I crackle like a packet of saltines over a bowl of soup. Always have. My little brother can pop his neck like a henchman's in a bad action flick. You just gotta keep loose.

I tried glucosamine. It might have worked if not for the constipation.

All sorts of joints will get noisy and/or painful if not constantly exercised under light to moderate load. Worst is being sedentary and cold behind a desk all day long, going straight home, eating, then to sleep; for weeks or months on end. Then suddenly trying to do heavy lifting of any kind, squats, or lots of walking with a heavy pack, etc.

Besides getting disgustingly obese and short of wind, a person's joints will start to pop like crazy and get painful under load.

I find I can avoid and recover from most of the worst through lots of gradually-increasing light exercise. You gotta stay active and eat right.

Results of the "take one for the team, & just walk it off". Stretches work for me (somewhat).

I hate the image it has received, but in all seriousness, Yoga. You get the noises all out at the start of the day.

Beats the alternative.

Too bad youth is wasted on the young.
