Default Selling a Truck

I hear lots on the used Markets for pickups being hot right now.

If you were selling would you list privately- kijiji/Auto trader or look for a broker.

I recall talk of buyers shipping vehicles to the US

Thoughts/ experiences appreciated, really could do with out all the kijiji drama

Depends on the age, condition, mileage, etc. of the truck.

Auction would be another option.

Good info, not trying to skirt the buy sell so kept it vague
But 2008 Titan with 130k owned it since new.

I will call around

Kijiji gets it out there . You may have a pleasant experience and then you may deal with the odd twinkies that ask you if you will take like $10k less... half price..... and stuff like that. Just gas them and move on. I have sold a few vehicles lately and using kijiji was painless. I usually put TEXT ONLY .

If you want top dollar and don't mind putting some effort in, I'd just list it and sell it myself. There's the odd chance a broker may contact you as well based on how you advertise it etc.. Good luck!

Last three I sold I listed on AO, Kijiji and Auto trader. Two sold from Auto trader the other from the AO ad. I got lots of enquiries from Kijiji and Auto trader but the vehicles sold so fast it is hard to tell what the quality of the other enquiries were. I never had any issues with low ballers or scammers but I also took the ads down as soon as they sold. I do not find selling stuff myself any kind of an issue and I got very good dollars for all of them.

I'm putting off work....

Looked at sold data from RB, on 25 Feb., 2021, a 2008 Nissan Titan, Crew Cab 4x4, 213k km, sold for $7k in Edmonton. Truck looked to be in pretty good shape.

Sell it yourself. I sold my 2007 Tacoma 180,000 KM last fall. $15K

Just check what is selling on Auto Trader/Kijiji/FB Marketplace and price accordingly. The price range will be pretty similar. I did a quick check on Auto Trader for your year of Titan. Selling between $15-17K
Kijiji ranging from $8-15K. Big variance here as the mileage was pretty high on the lower priced ones 300,000+KM.

Good luck but yes you will have to deal with wholesalers that will low ball you. Just tell them you aren't interested.

Facebook marketplace and all the for sale forums for your area.

It truly blows away everything else.

Take a look on VMR Canada. That usually gives a guy an idea what a vehicle is worth. With Covid pricing I find them on the low side right now but normally they are close.

3 best ways are cash, cash and cash.

Accept no substitute. Cash works everywhere.

People will bring cash if they really want what you are selling, the guy that bought my last payloader brought it in a ziplock bag. That was a cool day.

Default sell it on your own if you can

I just sold my 2006 Tacoma (260000kms) a few months ago, listed it here, Auto trader, town post & Kijiji. Had 10 guys contact me immediately from Kijiji and all seemed like serious buyers (no BS scams or low balls) & one guy from Town post got a hold of me. Sold to the first kid who came to look at it, was actually surprised at the quality of guys responding as I've sold a lot of stuff in the past & dealt with every weirdo out there. I sold it for $15K & got a bank draft. As most have said be realistic in what you are asking & you should sell it in this market. The dealer said he would have given me about $5000...

I can confirm this too. I post on both Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, same add, same pictures, nothing differing, and FB Marketplace sells it every time. Kijiji barely brings a bite.
