Default Did a cormorant do this?

Looks like this guy took quite the beating...

Funny thing is, the injury that almost took its life ended up saving its life... Who wants to eat that!

sure looks like it. If the trout is bigger than about a pound they sometimes realize that it can't be swallowed,chomp it a couple times and spit it out. Most fish die but every now and again you see one with the slash.

i would say a blue heron did the damage..not too say though..those blk.basta--s don't do this kinda damage,but rarely does a fish escape there mouths..

A heron usually spears the fish with his beak,the entrance hole is a single circular hole close to the dorsal fin.Rarely will there be other marks on the fish,

We have had those blu.basta--s all summer in our pond and allot of the fish have similar marks on them .
