Default strubel Lake

i had nothing to do this evening so i took a stroll over to strubel southwest of rocky. The bite is on! i was fishing in 6 feet of water and had rainbows on one after the other. Nothing exceeding 2 pounds tho. the ice is about 8 to 10 inches as i was only 50 yards from the shore. Black jig head with a green rubber tipped with maggots was what they were hitting on.

We went out today and lots as usual, a few better ones. Talked to a guy and his son, his son had caught a good number of real nice trout, 16 inchers, and said he lost a couple real big ones at the hole. Told us they were using cheese.

went back to strubel yesterday and the fishing was alright, not as great as it has been. Did manage to get 5 up that were in the 16'' 2lb range, and a bunch of pan fryers 8-10 inchers. Good 14 inches of ice

Was out again on Sunday, couldn't believe the number of people there and all the bloody ATV's.

Fished right out from the boat launch, pretty slow but still caught 25+ fish.

went back early this morning to the usual spot. fished until noon bringing 9 up the hole. the biggest being 15 1/2 inches. Not the best i've had but still not to bad. Better than sitting on the couch!

Yeah, will have to give er a go here one day this week. Should start suspending soon. Might give Mitchell a try, we managed to catch some decent browns out of there earlier on, now they are fun!

How is the road to Mitchell this time of year?

The cattle keep it in check. If you have a 4wheel no problem, 2 wheel just hit er with some speed and your fine.

Even the downhill part? That part seems like it'd be a little sketchy in the winter. I always have fun shooing cows out of the way when I'm at Mitchell, though

Aaah there is a trick to them, the farmer told me. Roll down your window and yell "Bear" as loud as you can, and they will get off the road. Don't know how or why but it works. Or just drive right up to them, after the dumb calves run back and forth across the road a couple times it will be clear.

I will have to try yelling bear. I've tried pushing right up against them but the cows just stand and stare...maybe because I have a little car?

Is the downhill part (just when you hit the treeline) of the road alright this time of year?

Should be. There is a fair bit of traffic going in and out of there so you shouldn't have any worries. Bring a shovel just to be safe though.
