Default Keeley Lake

Spent last weekend up at Keeley Lake Lodge with a bunch of buddies. We had great weather the whole time, even the wind was not so bad. The Jacks were biting pretty good, but the walleys were nowhere to be found. A little disappointing no BIG Jacks this time (most trips there we get a couple 20lbs) But still lots of fun.

No walleye eh? That's strange. Nice pike though, still some nice ones.

I was there for a day around the same time of year about 5 years ago. Couldn't find the walleye either - fluked one small one off via troll over about 10 hours of fishing. Did manage probably 30 pike of various sizes between 2 of us though.

How busy was the lake?

there wasn't many others out on the lake at all. Maybe 6 boats all together.
Never ice fished there yet.

Looks like you guys still managed to have a good time

I love the Meadow Lake area in general...so many wicked fishing opportunities, and some great scenery as well

Looks like a fun trip even without the walleye.. Me and a few buddies are planning on heading up there here early june, do you have any tips on fishing the lake, some good places to start? I heard about some humps in the lake that were good places to fish.. Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

How about the river where you launch your boat?? Or did you launch at the lodge?? Fished Keely a few years back nailed a few 20+ pounds, know exactly what your talkin about. We nailed hundreds of Walleye up the river, maybe it's closed this time of year?? Need a small aluminum as well? Nice fish guys!!

there is a few underwater islands that rise from 25ft to 12. straight out the river, 3/4 the way to the other side, and a little to the left...........lol. they are some times are marked. When you get to Keeley, talk to Wes, he will set you up with a map and tell you what and where to fish. eagles nets is a great place to start if looking for walleye. I have ownly caght small jacks in the river. but take the time and go for a run up it. its like driving your boat down grout road.
have fun up there and say hi to Uncle Wes for me
