you can always upsize your hole with an axe. but its really hard to downsize regardless of all the people on here telling you you can get an adapter to downsize your drill. sounds pricy

If you re-read your post # 18 - it was YOU who offered an adapter.

As far is it "sounding pricey" - I recall you offered one for sale.

Perhaps it's getting difficult to keep track of all the fairy tales you have cleverly spun.

This forum is for the exchange of information, advice, etc.... misinformation and fairy tales, however entertaining, are really not helpful to people looking for honest advice and factual information.

The only way I know t get a smaller hole is to purchase a smaller auger attachment.

Like I said - it's the only way "I know of" - and you are right, maybe there is another way. Unicorns might exist ..... I just haven't seen them before.

I'm just unclear on the physics required to take a 10" circumference auger and make it cut a 8" hole without changing the auger attachment itself.

If you are saying you have a product that does just that - I'm pretty curious to see it.

To post a picture, reply, then hit go advanced, then attach, browse, and upload your image. There are more detailed instructions on the "sticky entitiled uploading photos".

If your product lets me cut a 8" hole with my 10" auger - I will pay you twice the money you are asking for. $40 - no problem.

I can't wait to see it.

I hope those instructions help you out.

I got one of the first jiffys made. They came with a 7 inch auger with blades welded on. Used it for about thirty years up north. Caught a ton of fish between twenty and twenty five lbs. Never had any problems. Loved the 7 inch as it was great for reaming out yesterday's holes.

For sure - I pulled a 19lb pike out of McGregor out of a 6" hole ..... but it was pretty silly.

The wider hole definitely makes it much cooler to visually fish from.

PS - What happened to Slew??? I obviously missed something .... lol

My ten cents.

What ever hole you drill. When done, leave it exposed so it can freeze solid. Don't cover it with snow. They won't freeze well and the guy who drops by later that day or even yourself can step into it and ....

I use an 8" gas auger.

It's a decent size for the smaller stuff like perch and stocked trout, and when I'm fishing for pike or other larger fish I'll just drill 2 holes overlapping.

My old auger certainly isn't as fast as the Z71 that so many guys seem to be fawning over, but it does the job, and it's a lot lighter for those situations when I'm dragging it out on a sled

The fact that I only paid $75 for it is nice too

In fact, some community associations in Calgary have banned 10" holes in their urban trout ponds - presumably to protect small kids and dogs and people with small feet.
