Default How many places have you fished in Alberta?

Just wondering how many places anglers go fishing in Alberta. We supposedly have over 1200 places to fish according to the Alberta Fishing Guide. A lifetime of fishing destinations in our own province. I know many places are marginal fisheries but there still is fish.

I counted the locations I've fished in Alberta using the Fishing Guide. I have fished 131 locations in Alberta over 50 years of angling. Enjoyed every place I went fishing too. From the Oldman river in the south to the Peace river in the north and everywhere in between.

How many places have you gone fishing in Alberta?

I counted 121 over the past 6 years(and most in the past 4 or so years). Was fun looking through the list of options, I had already forgot about some of the places I have tried.

Since moving to Alberta 4 years ago, I have fished 26 rivers and 17 lakes for a total of 43 fisheries! Great idea Red Bullets, this was a fun exercise!

I haven't fished near as many spots as Red Bullets, maybe half. Having said that, I was very lucky growing up as my Dad was a private pilot and had his own plane. The Cherokee 6 was the one we used the most for fishing remote lakes in Alberta and the Territories. It wasn't a float plane, but many remote lakes had strips including Namur, Margaret, Thurston, Peerless and surrounding lakes Graham, Gods, etc. before an all weather road was in place, Grist etc.

Not in Alberta, but the most popular lake for us in late June was Lac La Martre in the territories. This was before there was any lodge there. We were usually the only ones on the lake, at least as far as outsiders. The fishing there was amazing then and apparently still is.

Depending on if you count the various different spots on the rivers. Probably 30 different locations on the Red deer alone. Maybe 10 on the Battle River. Another couple of dozen on the North Saskatchewan. Throw in a couple of dozen ponds, plus that many lakes.
Really can't tell you how many fishing spots, so I guess I fall under the serious fishermen. My bet is 250 or so from one end of the province to the other. One great benefit of pipelining was the untouched fishing spots we found.
