Default Tagish Lake - 2018

Here we go for soft water season 2018! Ice was out ~2 weeks ago so last week I got out in my new-to-me boat for the first time. What a good little Christening she got!

This is just before midnight on June 2, about 8 km or so north of the BC border. Once I marked bait it wasn't long, although it took me about an hour and a half of trolling deeper water to finally mark it. When I did I left the helm and took the rod out of its holder, and took the steering link from the main and the kicker. Just like fishing out of a tin boat I ran the kicker by hand and let a big Gibbs Red Eye out 120'. This first one was 26" and ~8 lb. They are still right up high in only 40' of water. The next one (no photo) was 29" and ~10 lb, so back he went (no possession from 27" to 39").

Hard to take a selfie and get the whole darn fish in ; )
