Anyone been to Battle or Pigeon lately? They must be getting close as well.

Thanks for posting that. Very depressing what happens to our lakes every summer.

That's horrible news. I was just down there a few days ago, fishing was great and the walleyes looked healthy and have grown plumper since I was there a few years ago.
I'm all C&R but ran into a bunch of folks trying to catch some pike for their dinner table, not sure if a lot of people going there know about this news yet.
Also I couldn't believe all the discarded fishing line everywhere, I picked up half a grocery bag full. People please pick up after yourself. Do we really have to keep saying this??

Smile Thanks for the post

We want to run a dog trial (test) at Bigelow in August and once before we had to move at the last minute, so it is good to know what the situation is asap.

If it does have BG algae now can it be safe in a couple of weeks?

How big does the "lake" have to be for the province to monitor it?

Is flowing water always/usually safe?

Are there natural systems that combat this algae?

Thanks, I need all the help I can get.

We were on Pine Coulee this past Monday and didn't encounter any blooms, but weren't on the lake long due to weather.

I was at Swan Lake by Debolt yesterday and the water is just thick with algae. Not sure if it's blue green but the lake stinks and your fishing line get coated with the stuff. I won't be back there this summer. This has progressively gotten worse over the last 4 or 5 years. I will probably only fish there in winter or early spring in the future as it's the only time there isn't an algae problem.

Farming... need it to support our massive population but hate what it does to our waterways and lakes.
