NSR - will be ugly for awhile
Just spoke to a buddy, I guess they opened up the Dam at Brazeau, which is why the river is ultra dirty right now in Edmonton.
Likely won't clear for the rest of the summer now..There goes my mid week evening fishing after work!
Damn!

It will clear up. And good. I hope it flushes some of the weed growth and that mung floating around into Tobin lake.

Just got back from the river, very high and no bites in 3 hours in a spot that is usually very productive, sure caught a lot of weeds though!

All of the above, everything from bright to dark coloured Mr. Twister tail jigs to different coloured rapalas, jointed shads and husky jerks, even used worms and minnows on a sliding sinker rig, all that did was bring in handfuls of weeds.

I wish that dam would open big time and flush it clean each mid summer. Weeds are probably relatively new to the stretch of river.

Nsr
On the other hand, there are spots on the river that only hold fish when it's high and coloured like chocolate milk. I was out two weeks ago and was surprised at how all the structure was visible with the low water. I also got skunked in the couple hours that I fished that day, although I've had stellar walleye/ goldeye action there in the past. Good thing I had my bait on ice, as I will try again tommorow before doing a last light cruise with the spotting scope on the window!

Spent the weekend on the river camping and fishing. Never caught a fish but the camping was good! The river is high and dirty but has come down 1 1/2 to 2 feet already. So let's hope it cleans up soon.
