Default 2 week fishing report

It has been a good and busy 2 weeks.

Fished Pigeon on evening

2 weeks ago fished the Highwood on Saturday, Red Deer on Sunday morning and the South Ram Sunday afternoon - that was some miles!

Long weekend fished Maligne in Jasper

Species caught,
Walleye
Bull Trout
Goldeye
Mooneye
Cutthroat Trout
Rainbow Trout
Brook Trout
Brown Trout
... solid!

Filled the wife's tags at Pigeon and one of my A class. Walleye were 54, 55, and 56 cm

Highwood was really high...should have listened to advice on the forum and waited another week or two. Still, my buddy fished it for the first time and got some decent cutts. I got a small rainbow. Got on the streamer rod and 2nd cast into a big pool yielded a huge bull that put up one heck of a fight. Glad I had a 7 wt to land it quickly.

Then drove back to Red Deer and fished the RDR that evening. Fished until dusk and caught a ton of goldeye and mooneye on the dry fly. Next morning I thought we should check out the dam. I always wanted to cast a good streamer there. It was dead...no one. Water was off color. 2nd cast and wham! Seemed to be good fish. I was surprised by the size of this brown.

Wouldn't fit in the 24 inch net so I tailed it instead, quick pic, and it shot off strong. A real amazing fish!

South Ram was also high and we got the big ole skunkola...I guess we were pushing the boundaries
Still, amazing well rounded and complete blast of a weekend.

This past weekend headed up to Jasper. Fished Maligne Sat and Sun. First day did well on trolling and took a throat sample. After that, anchored up and caught around 60 fish. Lots of brookies but more rainbows. Most of the rainbows made 18 inches or bigger. Biggest was 23 inches. Traveled around the afternoon and fishing did slow down...but what a morning.

Sunday was similar but only fished the morning. Lots and lots caught again. More rainbows the 2nd day. Crazy good fishing and awesome weather.

Got to try out the new MinKota Maxum. Batteries do last longer and I managed to get another km/hr and a bit more out of the 55 lb thrust. Topped out at 6.2 km/hr in the 12 foot tinner. Not bad!

I think I'll take a rest for a bit but an awesome couple of weeks.

Cheers!
