Talking 2012 Furbuster Coyote Derby

Go to kodiaklake.com to download pre registration forms, all forms have to be handed into kodiak lake in Barrhead. Added a big/little dog contest this yr. Last two yrs winners have won guns, 2nd place team 500.00, 3rd place team 250.00. Lots of prizes handed out, eveyone has a chance of winning great prizes. Just ask anyone who has entered before, you dont have to shoot a coyote to win something great. Hope to see you there. This is year number 7 for derby.

Default Winning team coat

Heres a picture of the back of the coats that the 1st place team gets as well, we size you up at the hall after derby and you get the coats as quick as our embroidery shop gets them done, last yr they had them in a week. This pic is of the coat from a few yrs ago.

where are you allowed to hunt? Are you only alowed in the local area or as long as you make it for check in you're ok?

you just have to be there for check in, we always used to meet at the hall than head out, but some ppl wouldnt know the area or have permission, this way with pre registration you can hunt where you have permission, gives a guy time to get permssion and plan your route for the day of the derby.

For those who dont know where Romeo Lake hall is, its in between Mayerthorpe and Barrhead, just off hwy 18, turn right (east) on township road 590, you can see the hall from the hiway. Its on the north end of Romeo Lake. If you go on google earth you can find it pretty easy. Hope to see some more AO members sign up this year. Sorry for all the rules and stuff but we just try run the best possible derby we can, its all for fun and every penny goes back into derby, we dont make 1 cent from this. I know some guys always wanna keep there coyotes but we have always made everyone forfeit them to us at check in. The reason for this is we dont want someone going 1/2 mile down the road and throwing there coyotes in the ditch, we would be on CTV news in no time.

seems like the local groups would woop the out of towners bass.

the out of towners would have to go track down the farmers/ranchers individually in the morning(-27 outside) and ask for permission to hunt here and there. putting up with their questions ,burning up time , meanwhile smokin joe flap jack 220 johnson from mayerthorpe allready has two in the back of the truck.

any of this sort of correct????

you COULD secure permission before the day of the derby....just sayin

this is why its all pre register.....you only have to be at the hall for check in afterwards.

hunt where you normally hunt then make the trip to the hall.

Registered, last year was fun. Lots of dead coyotes. I love the fact that everyone gets something even if you don't shoot anything! Cant wait!

We had to change hall location this year, its at Summerdale hall just west of Barrhead on hwy 18 few miles out of town due to Romeo lake hall being booked. Hope to see some of you there, lots teams signing up as it will be a good year for doing lots of stands in one day.

1st place 15 dog, 2nd was 7 dogs 1 fox, 3rd was 7 dogs. 1st was (2) 243 weatherbys, 2nd was 500.00, 3rd was 250.00. Big dog was 38 lbs they won $390.00, little dog was 18 lbs they also won $390 bucks. 89 dogs were checked in at the hall, only a few teams didnt come back to hall for supper. 41 door prizes, varied from trailcams, binoculars, winchester, bushnell gear, coyote decoy. lots of stuff. Not realistic to get 15 dogs in a day especially when you see 30. all it takes is a few doubles and triples comin to the call and they add up quick.
