Default Another one- doesn't make guns look good.

https://globalnews.ca/news/4159939/w...-shooting/amp/

Seems like AR-15 style gun is the new buzz word. Why can't they just name it what's it is? He could have gone in with a tactical shotgun and they would still say it was an AR-15 style gun.

It's unfortunate what is going on in the USA, but I feel it is the same thing that is going on in India and China, events like this are "normal" due to the population. 3000 people dying in a train accident in India is not even seen as news anymore, they've become desensitized.

The media just loves the "assault rifle" label, no matter what firearm is used.

What amazes me is a naked guy can flee a scene and nobody things to call him in. Sorry there’s always people moving around at odd hours in the city, someone must have seen this joker. Also I like the rifle laying on what looks to be carpet without a magazine. If the police cleared the rifle they wouldn’t have left it on the floor and let someone else take a picture of it.i also doubt they are releasing crime scene photos yet which makes me think the media just googled a rifle and pasted the picture.

What does guns have to do with it?

A psycho killed some people.

He could’ve driven a vehicle through the restaurant and had a higher body count.

On a semi-related matter...

http://www.wnd.com/2018/04/knife-con...sses-atlantic/

Quote:
Just days after the mayor of London, where stabbings have surged in recent years, tweeted that anyone caught with a knife “will feel the full force of the law,” a Texas mother who lost her son in a knife attack is taking action.

PJ Media reported Lori Brown said the suspect who allegedly attacked her son “should have not been allowed to have an illegal knife on him and use it to murder somebody.”

She is lobbying Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott for more restrictions on knives.

“As with gun control, she seems focused more on restricting access to the weapon the murderer used than on enabling victims to defend themselves,” the report said.

When I read the news story and it says "AR-15 style weapon" I take that to mean a non armalite AR-15 such as a bushmaster, colt, S&W, Ruger, you name it.
Of course I could be wrong, because as you point out, they don't name the specific make and model of the weapon. Nor would I really expect them to as I'm not sure it would mean anything to the general public.

The he real public doesn't even know what an assault rifle is, to them anything with a pistol grip and long magazine is an assault rifle.

To them a Ruger 10-22 shod with some tactical Tupperware is an assault rifle.

Does the label really matter, they each have a vote. Are they any less knowledgeable than one of our own that calls magazines “clips”?

Well said. Story should read 'hero saves lives by risking his own - unarmed man risks his life to save others.

Sensationalized media. What sells more. AR style rifle used in shooting or semiautomatic rifle used in shooting or unarmed hero saves the day?

It all depends on what the media wants to sell.

Default Must have been the pickup truck.

Cordero could have prevented the whole thing before it started, suitably armed and having a CCW, the moment Travis tried to pick off the first customer. So could the second customer.

Smells like there was a little more going on than reported. Not yet quite sure what, though.

On top of that, no mention or discussion of anyone who could/should have had a CCW at 3:25 am in a major US city. Isn't Tennessee a 'shall issue' state?

Every time I hear about concealed carry potentially saving the day, I think about the history of my M1 Carbine ... initially developed and adopted by the US army, primarily as a defensive weapon for non-combat troops in harms way —- to replace the 45 cal handgun which they found was of limited value because issuee’s couldn’t hit much with it unless they had extensive training.

And yet here is another case, where the authorities had all the laws they needed to stop this guy, didn't use them, and here is the result. This guy had his guns removed by the Secret Service, over some other wingnut threat he made, and then they gave them back to his father for safe keeping.

In that case we should carry carbines

The father should be charged in this case, as he failed to uphold his end of the bargain which was keeping his son's guns away from his son.

Also the local radio this morning, reporters are now using the term "assault-style" firearm, only a matter of time before bolt actions are deemed "sniper-style" guns.

Yes, CC = Carbine Carry. For the Canadian market, they are now manufactured to meet NR requirements. No law here against carrying them. Probably why “mass” shootings are rare in Canada?

Yup

But apparently, James Shaw's actions are of no consequence here in this thread. They'd rather Blather on about subjects that have already been beat to death, a thousand times before.

Sad
