I think the demand is to simply get enough to last the season, especially if your running multiple baits. We put our beavers in cages and it doesn't take the bears to long to finish it off through a small hole.

Sounds like a great strategy for hanging them!

I would assume a lot of people just want to be prepared. Better then leaving it till the last minute. I've never ran a bait barrel though, so it could be for other reasons.

Yup. Snow came and kept coming. We saw 5 moose in 6 hours, they didn't seem to mind. Everything else though

Doesn't snow just make them easier to see? Or do the bears hole up again until things are green?

[QUOTE=NSDucknut;3516252]The meat is great! You must not waste the hide, but you can leave the meat behind if you don't want it, but it's good eating.
So is the meat better in the fall or spring?

Never had spring bear but the bear I took in the fall a couple years back had been eating so many berries his tongue was stained red! Some of the best meat we've ever eaten!

Porcupine Hills
Spent a couple days out in Porcupine hills last week, no sightings and only a couple tracks, nothing major yet, probably not quite green enough yet.

We set our bait on April 4th.
First hit was late on April 20th.
Steady action including last night.
Re-baited this morning.

I can not wait for this terrible weather to be done and the sun come out and start greening things up. Looking forward to getting out for bear, hopefully try out some new areas this spring.

Was out east of Peace River yesterday looking for bear sign and none to be found. Pretty cold out still and no green.
