Back to the OP.
We were out last Saturday roughly 2 hrs west and saw 1 set of sow/cub tracks in the snow. That's it. There were still areas in the bush (where they den) that had well over a foot of snow.
Out of 3 baits (all in new areas mind you) we have none hit as of this morning.
I wouldn't start getting discouraged until next weekend., especially with a new bait site.
I can't see very many bears in the northwest waking up till the last day or 2.

Friend of ours live in the Burnt timber area, had her annual Grizzly track appearance, on her place, a week ago.

I came up with a solution for that but not sure if it works. Those solar powered LED floodlights from Costco. I think they're about $60 each. Hang them over the baits and maybe they'll get skittish visiting at night… Might be worth a try

I did all that stuff with KGB the bear years ago.
Nothing worked.
I had disco lights and radios going.
Hahahaha.

Bears are intelligent, they figure things out quickly, just like propane cannons with elk, only works for a short while.

Real nice to see them starting to come out. I might to a day trip to 406 nexr weekend. I know its far from the best spot to go. But unfortunately the only time my hunting buddy can get out is the final weekend in May (we'll head up past Nordegg) and Im itching to get out! 406 is close enough by I can do an easy day trip alone from calgary.. I guess worst case.. I get some exercise and fresh air!

Is Leroy that huge chocolate phase one that Hugenuge was trying for last spring? If it is, I sure hope you guys get a chance to nail him!

Nope. Sad to say. We had a lanky black visitor that should be a nice bear one day. Both site are being hit and a third started. Should pick up more this week. Nuge is heading into the bush today to try again for Leroy
