6.5 creedmoor pet loads
Hey boys,
It’s been a long wait, but the boss finally approved a new toy and my decision was hard, but I picked up my new Remington 700 in 6.5 CM. Got 100 rounds factory Hornady match 147 grain, and some 143 grain vld for my first reload batch, but I’d like to here what you guys are using.
1:8 twist 22” barrel (ya ya I know I need to be longer. Are you on my side or hers?)
Anyways, I’ve heard that imr 4350 is the go to powder, but I don’t currently stock it and would like to here what other powders have produced good results. I might have to get some 4350 by the sounds of it, but I’m sure you guys will have some input. Thanks for the feedback.

H4350 is the go to. But I've read many good things about IMR-4451 and Reloder 16.

A few weeks back I picked up the rifle everyone loves to hate in the 6.5 Creedmoor. The SPS sporter with 24" 8 twist barrel. Checked the parts pile and found a Timney trigger which I put in it and stuck it into a lightweight fibreglass stock I had sitting here. Had to grind out a bit of bedding to get it to fit. I did not rebed it. Checked to scope pile and found a 6.5-20X Leupold which I mounted in Talley Lightweights.
Factory 120 gr Federal Trophy Copper were up first. The first two shots I put through the rifle at 100 meters touched. The third shot opened the group to .520"
At 200 Meters this same ammo shot back to back 3 shot groups of 1.06" and .90"
Imagine if I had rebedded it...
I bought another box of ammo and will see how it holds up at 300 meters.
Pet Loads?....so far I've been getting them at Cabelas.

Outstanding post! 5-10 yrs ago it was a little trickier to do that with factory rigs and ammo but I was doing it. Well sub moa anyway, that’s half moa now and not an uncommon story with the Creedmoor. Right on, times are good!

Had a gunsmith screw the rusty barrel off and screw the take off barrel on. Would likely have been my pet load if it had been good for big game. Thirty years ago Remington didn't have any great 7mm-08factory rounds for that purpose but I had no trouble finding loads that were.

If I were to take up big game hunting again I would go with a 6.5 Creedmore or a 6.5 PRC and run factory ammo. Really no need for a fancy custom rifle as you have shown us.

My target rifle likes imr4350,fed 210m primer to set off a 139 gr Lapua Scenar .I use hornady cases.I use H4350 and 129gr. Long Range Accubond for the other rifle,it is a deer rifle, really like the 129 LRAB for hunting,I am going to try the 143 ELD-X this year.

Useing 125 gr win deerseason,on a L slave hunting trip, fired the 1st shots without muffs--wow loud--cartwheeled a running doe, neck shot. This not a good test for this long range bullet. But off to a good start, dead when shehit the ground,The tikka 3 a little to hvy for everyday hunting.Looks like a light weight comeing up.
