Default New Hunting Product - Focus Group

I am developing a new hunting product that I hope to produce and market. I have a mock up that is near ready to move to a prototype and I would like to get your thoughts.

I am looking for 10 to 15 guys and gals that can spare a couple of hours with at least 10 years of big game hunting behind them to join in a focus group to examine this product. You should be a dedicated big game hunter who has experience in trying different types of hunting methods with different products. It is your comments I am interested in to add or refine anything I might not have considered.

If you are interested please PM me a short bio telling me how long you have been hunting, how much time each season you hunt, whether you hunt alone or with other hunters, what game you hunt, the different methods of hunting you use i.e stands, spot and stalk, spot and shoot, road warrior, whether you use rifle and/or archery tackle, and something about your successes.

I want a diversity of experiences so no, “me and my good hunting buddy want to come”. I just want you!

There is no renumeration for your participation and you will be asked to sign a non-disclosure form.

Meeting will be held in Calgary near the end of June. Time and place yet to be determined.

This is a great opportunity to get in on a new hunting product and be able to say you had a direct influence on the design and use of it.

So the obvious question is, what's the product? Don't need the trade secret product details, but is it a rangefinder or a toque?

It's top secret guys! If he told us then he would have to kill us. If he did that then we couldn't be part of his focus group. The only way to get the security clearance needed for that top secret information is to pm your bio to the OP.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread at all, just trying to put some perspective on it without yelling and insulting someone. a little humour is good to make a point some times.

IMHO you have a pretty big ask here. You want 10 -15 very experienced, border line experts to donate their time, ideas and expertise to help you build a commercial product.
But you don't/won't say what it is and you want this work done for free.

Your product may be bigger and better than the Popiel Pocket Fisherman, but if you want strangers to step up and support you, then maybe a little info and respect for their input would help.

I have been hunting extensively for over 60 years, if you'd like me to help, send me your bio and I'll take a look at it when I get a few minutes.

That's priceless right there. It's things like this that confirm I was born about 50 years later than I wish.

I agree, some form of info on what the product may do or assist in doing would help this to not look like you're just trying to scam 10-15 suckers. The op looks like one of those spam emails you get where someone from some African country is demanding you send money or gift cards...
I'm sure you'll get a ton of interest if you provide more info.
I, for one, would not test any scent blocker, as I would be more concerned about my health. Probably not interested in using a "new to market" weapon either. That sounds like a lawsuit or viral social media nightmare.
But I'd be interested in trying something to hang big game, or skin it out, or track blood trails, or specialized socks/footwear/gloves/rain gear/thermal layers, or many other things.
Please provide a general idea of what it is. It's not like someone's gonna go replicate it off your general info.
Cheers

Didn't hijack the thread. Read my first post. I simply asked what the product was. If a person is interested in a particular product they might be willing or even excited to help develop it. I'm not interested in blindly donating my time writing a bio, submitting it, then going to a meeting to help someone develop a plastic whistle. You want a lot and are giving nothing, not even what the product is so a person can make an informed decision.

"There is no renumeration (sic) for your participation and you will be asked to sign a non-disclosure form."

You may not mean it this way, but you make it sound as if your "volunteers" should be somewhat honoured to have the opportunity to see and comment on your product at their own time and expense. Seems you are hoping to get free consulting advice. You should at least offer something e.g. catered lunch, fuel expense, a few bevvies after...anything.

I have to agree with some of the previous posts. For all we know from the info the OP has provided, this might be someone trying to sell some time shares.

First time I have ever agreed with this member. In this case, he's 100% right. I wouldn't walk across the street to take part in this.

Don't worry. There's no thaw on this end. But I better be quiet or I will be reported to a mod.

Don't forget to include you SIN, Bank account info, credit card number and 3 digit security code on the back, DOB, and address in your bio. You'll have the chance to win a special opportunity to help further fund errr I mean develop a great hunting product.

(please don't actually send any of that info)

So us new hunters don't matter? I'd argue fresh, young eyes may bring a whole different perspective. Never hurts to diversify opinions. Also new hunters are probably more likely to buy new/techy products.

I only have nine and a half years experience hunting, I guess I don't need to write up my hunting bio and resume.

New hunters are not welcome, he pointed out that he wants a bio of your hunting techniques and experiences, sounds like a rookie trying to glean some tactics on how to get the big ones, and the "new product" is a red herring.

If you look at his posts, he is not a rookie .
I personally however do not give something for nothing when it comes to someone wanting to profit from me .
