Default Then what?

Apparently The Minister of Nothing will only be doing a few round tables on the handgun ban, anti crime, whatever it is he is doing round tables on, and has yet to publish a schedule, but;

Here comes the new Lib platform, grandfathering and central storage.

No where in that article was any mention of grandfather or central storage... why are you starting fake news about fake news.

Think about it, how else will they get this done? You going to walk down there and turn it in if they pass a straight up ban? They have to grandfather them and take them out of the citizens hands bit by bit. Slowly phase out out RPAL's by non issuance. Central storage was mentioned by Goodale and crew already, they are looking at it. Nobody said it had to be practical.
Great campaign platform for them, they know they won't get gun owners votes.

Central storage is the stupidest idea on the planet.

I live in blackfalds, and have 2 ranges I belong to. Rocky and CDTSA in Calgary.

If I were going to take my AR15 to Calgary, but I had it stored in Rocky think about how far I would have to drive. Or vice versa.

Not to mention the expensive storage and security system. Or the fact that criminals will target ranges as there will be a gold mine there.

I wouldn't worry to much about C-71 or bans, when the PC get in they are just going to get rid of it all like they did last time.

I'm certain that the ban is coming, regardless of what the consultations come up with. No one can convince me that this hasn't been in the works for a while, and every time another "Danforth" shooting happens in Toronto, the Liberals secretly smile so they can move their agenda forward.

I would like to see what would happen if gun owners displayed massive non-compliance like what's happening in Quebec - what's J Turd going to do, round us all up?

At this point that's one of the only remaining options left to get anywhere. They've already ignored thousands of letters, emails, social media posts, phone calls, demonstrations on Parliament Hill (pre-C-68), and even an official parliamentary e-petition with 86,000 signatures (2nd highest total signatories to an e-petition ever).

If they aren't representing the people anymore, then who are they representing?

This is likely to happen.

There was lots of non compliance with the last registry. Nobody went to jail. Deer were still shot and consumed. Unregistered rifles owned by farmers didnt shoot anyone.

If nobody participates then what? Start rounding everyone with a PAL up? Maybe execute a few of us in public to instill fear?

More likely they will do Fookin Nuttin'....thats what we pay them for.

I kinda hope they push for some crazy stuff. Maybe then the gun owners in this country, that sat on their collective arses last go round, will actually go vote.

They are representing 'the people' though....the kind of people who vote for them. And they know we won't vote for them even if they don't pass these stupid useless wasteful laws. So they plainly don't care, regardless of how many petitions we sign, or how outraged we are.

It's just more virtue signaling that isn't meant to really accomplish anything (they know this will have zero effect on gang violence and crimes related to the drug trade, don't think they 'just need to be educated' and 'look at the studies'...they don't care!). It will be at the expense of 'the people' who don't matter, for the emotional well being of those who Want To Make A Difference and will continue to vote for them, so it's a Win. It validates their whole existence and sense of moral superiority. It's all about doing whatever you need to do to get re-elected, it's not about substance. God knows the Liberals have proven they have no substance, particularly with our current PM and Cabinet because it's 2015.

Did you also think the end of the Long Gun Registry was a dream, personally I did but it happened. If it has not already it will become an election isssue, as the Liberals have already been made to look like more of a fool for attacking legal gun owners and ignoring gang and terrorist murderers.

The Liberals are trying to ram it through now, hoping that voters will forget by next election but the PC will insure it remains front and centre at election time.

Not stupid if your trying to inconvenience gun owners. They want to turn owning a restricted gun into an expensive financial and bureaucratic nuisance. Over time people will get tired of all the hoops they have to jump through, eventually legal gun owners will just give up buying and using them.

central storage ?

The Libs are banning guns not because restricted owners can't be trusted but because thieves will steal them. The plan is build storage at gun ranges and our range is 16 kms out of town with a few scattered farms around perfect location for a break in. The intension must be to gather all the guns for the gangs to plunder in one place.

They also know most gun clubs are non profit, cannot afford to finance or build a secure building, staff it, or maintain and insure it. I doubt any financial institution would approve a mortgage on something like that. I can imagine the CFC design regulations for storage buildings would be quite onerous and put most smaller rural clubs out of business. Gov't is attacking gun owners from all peripheries.

This is exactly correct^^^the path forward is to bleed us dry. They may not inflict fullout bans if they think it will actually hurt their campaign, but will bring on rules and restrictions to make it such a complete waste of time for the average Joe to own a firearm. Once we lose our rights good luck getting them back. I could really care less about a long gun registry other than it’s a waste of money, it really didn’t effect us all that much. It’s the fact that they may move towards things like calibre restrictions like 7.62 or .223, possibly 9mm and .45. Seems like they’ve already achieved this once before

The funny part is you think the PC’s will get in.

I hope you are right but I highly doubt it...

Even if they won what makes us think that they'll do anything about it. Yeah when Harper came in he trashed the long gun registry which was a surprise to all.
I'm afraid that if they win they wont fo much about c71 or a full ban but instead just put a pause on the agenda so us gun owners can feel a sense of relief but only until next election then it's back to where we started.
We need to inform and demand the conservatives that we want changes being done and not just being put on pause.

It all depends on the political climate. We have to remember that killing the registry was another nail in the coffin for the PC's that allowed Trudeau to get elected. Old stock Canadians are dying off. Demographics are changing. New thinking Socialist minded mommy government loving Canadians are replacing them/us. Gov't's create policy based on what they think will appeal to the most people, unfortunately it has little to do with what is right or wrong or whether it will be effective. If gun owners, hunters and shooters were a majority of the population the Liberals and Trudeau would be kissing our butts.

Just a reminder that the two members of the SECU committee, that tried to get this amended in that committee, and then asked Goodale to do something about it, as the RCMP would not register these guns--still have not had an answer. As C71 went to the Senate without the amendment required, the amnesty in C71 is technically void. That says a lot about the attitude in Ottawa.
