Default Ruger

My son just picked up a ruger American in a 270 cal
He likes it but the only thing is he wants to fill up the butt stock. Has anyone done this and what did you use.

Spray foam gets rid of the thump/hollow noise and adds very little weight.

Before you spray in the foam you can add fishing weights to the amount you think will tame recoil or add balance.

it sounds crazy, but I've heard of people stuffing the stocks with plastic shopping bags until they can't fit anymore in (to help with the hollow sound). At least if you're not happy with the results, you could just remove them.

I use low expanding spray foam and add weight by cutting welding rods to length and place them in before filling the stock.. helps a ton on the bigger cal.

I’ve carved a tight fitting styrofoam plug - that way it can be removed down the road.

Fit a survival and gun cleaning kit inside the stock.

Fill with fire starting material, cordage and anything else that you think maybe useful if lost in the Bush.
Don’t waste the space.
