I don't think we have had that in the last 3 years combined!

Gravel driveway, make sure there are no big rocks walk it before snow arrives, keep the feet of the snowblower at its highest setting so you get a base.
I have an 800m gravel driveway use a 66" snowblower and a blade on my JD 3320

I used to plow the snow off my drive way and yard. I got into a discussion with a local rancher and now I just pack it down. I can clear the slop off easier in the spring than I could plow all winter. The only place I keep clear is where the drive way meets the main road. That has to be clear or it will drift.

2 friends with acreages, both went with a beater 4x4 truck and a good plow blade. Warm inside, coffee in the cup holder. Park and wait for next snowfall when done. The one friend is like Mr Plow, goes and does the culdesac if the county is taking their sweet time. Beater truck hauls junk to the dump too.

Used to be able to do that in Red Deer County. When we first moved in (1987) I asked the grader operator if he would grade my newly gravelled driveway. It cost me a coffee. The County also used to sell flags for $15 that you put out at your gate and they would plow it for you but, they stopped doing that for liability reasons. Too many complaints of property damage claims, such as accidentlyknocked gate post over, cracked pavement due to weight of grader etc, etc.

Have a tractor with a snowblower, blade attachment. Haven't connected either in the last 3 or 4 years. Always fine with quad + blade. Don't find it too light. Have a Arctic Cat TRV so has a bit more weight then normal, but it plows through even when the snow is so deep it goes over the blade. Done in a quarter of the time a tractor takes.

Has anyone tried using a rotary broom instead of a snowblower?

JESUS!! thats gotta be more expensive than BUYING a plow? whats gonna power it? unless of course you have a tractor...
I had some scrap wood laying around and I already had the chain, but I still dont think I paid more than 80 bucks to build mine... Granted I got the ratchet extension on saldsfor about 20 bucks at PA.. Love that store...

But it would be about 1/2 the price of a snow blower.

I used a snowblower for years. The key is to have a lay of snow and ice pack before using a snowblower.
