Default parades

Are there no marching band programs in schools anymore?

Just noticed the last few years that our local parades are void of any school marching bands.

When we were youngsters we participated in many small town parades.

Probably not. Someone was probably offended by them.

Jasper Place High School had an amazing drum corp / band for their football games. They had absolutely THE BEST band teacher who tragically took his life about 5 years ago or so. Don’t know if it continued. He was a one of a kind teacher who impacted so many students. Honestly, I admired that guy from afar as he of the best I ever saw, and briefly worked with. Outwardly, the happiest guy around. I guess I put that out there as a warning to not always assume those close to you are happy, even though they may smile like hell.

High school bands are awesome.

So was the gun range in the basement of Eastglen High School.

Boy our world is a changin.

Exactly, too many people sitting around, waiting to be offended by something.

students do not want to take band or shop classes these days
They would rather sit in the computer room and play games on the computer when the teacher is not watching

On a side note... how pitiful have parades become in general? As a kid I remember lots of live music, marching bands, big floats that buisnesses spent a fair bit of time and money building... Now its often just a bunch of pickup trucks with pom-poms stuck to them, some guys wearing cowboy hats tossing suckers out the window. Not even worth the hastle of finding a parking spot.
