Thank you landowners
Just want to give a shout out to all those who allow access and provide opportunities to those who ask permission. I for one am very grateful for the access we were granted this past season. Thank you and I wish you all the very best in 2022. Merry Christmas !

Yes, without the landowners, we would not have the same hunting opportunities that we enjoy every year. And that is why we try so hard to be respectful, and to leave the land as we found it.

Great post Sled!
I also wish to give thanks to all the landowners who grant access to hunters, it's very appreciated.
My son and I both filled a tag on a 1/4 section we just got permission to this fall...

Have to agree with all of the positive comments above.
Even more so than we hunters, most landowners are great, salt-of-the-earth people.
The odd bad apple shouldn't diminish our respect for these true stewards of the land, or what they endure so that we can enjoy our recreational activity.
Out of hundreds, if not thousands, of farmers that I have met over the years there were only 2 that stuck out as real jerks. Oddly enough they were both hunters themselves.
That should tell us something...

Add me to the list. I wouldn't have been out because of my broken arm but my landowner friend helped load my WT, hung it, and assisted in the cutting. I supplied the grinder and pork trim for his Elk in return.

My hunting partner and I met a fantastic land owner this fall while on our elk hunt.
He had no issues showing us on the map where to hunt and where he was seeing elk .
We were welcomed back for next year, I think a lot of that was because we kept him updated on where we were going and what we were doing .

that's critical, clear, concise communication and being extremely grateful!
I have been all over the map regarding land owners, yes, no, maybe, go away, welcome, welcome back but at the end of the day just be humble and polite.
Thank you all.

I am extremely grateful to the land owners that have given my son & I permission, thank you!
I feel we are doing things right when landowners have given us free reign & exclusive access. We have one landowner that will call us if any other hunters are given permission and when they will be hunting. We are very fortunate. Needless to say we help them out whenever they need and offer them meat from the hunt.

Yeah I would echo the same as everyone. I hunted mule deer in a zone this past year that I had never hunted and didn’t know any landowners. All of them were wonderful people who allowed a complete stranger access to their land.
One thing that I think gets often overlooked, is a call after the season to thank them for the access (regardless of whether I got my deer on their place). All of them really appreciate a little follow up after I was done hunting.
No question there are a few bonehead landowners, but there are a lot higher numbers of bonehead hunters landowners have to deal with. Nice to know with a little courtesy, a guy can still get really good access from great landowners.

Thank you. I always try and let guys hunt on my land. If they ask, and no one else is out there, I always say yes. In fact, I have a former AO member out there trapping yotes as we speak. I don’t live on my land, and so I appreciate a set of eyes and ears out there from time to time.

Great thread. Years of respectful interaction with quality people makes for great interactions that can be helpful to both sides.

Good post Sledhead, despite the nitwits, we try to allow a few respectful guys per year on. One challenge we find is little Johnny spots a guy on our land with with permission, he thinks it's a free for all.
All good, hope everything from B&C to tag soup was enjoyed throughout the province!

As a first year land owner, it was certainly eye-opening to see from the other side of the coin. I met some great guys who sought permission. I also have cams with a few of trespassers. In fairness, I bought the land in the spring and they may not have realized it changed hands.
I also benefit heavily from over 12,000 acres of permission in the areas I hunt. I feel the same as the OP- super grateful for people who let us stomp around gun in hand. It's such an amazing show of generosity.

I am also fortunate to have landowner permissions where we go. Some of them have actually become friends.
Also, great thread OP...

Can I bring my bow too...? I like moose.
And yes, agree wholeheartedly with appreciating landowners. I have had many good interactions, and still enjoy permission on several parcels.
