Default Twin Lakes / Crimson Perch

Hey guys, was up at Twin and Crimson by Rocky a few days ago and noticed that there wasnt any signs of life in the water. Does anyone know what happened to all the trout and perch that were infesting the waters??

2 years too late.
Unfortunately you can't write any lake names on the Internet without 100 people showing up the next day.
And people say Internet/media doesn't destroy good fishing!

Crimson has billions of perch. Just tiny ones. Breed themselves outta house and home. Twin is much the same.

It was easy to get a limit of nice ones before guys fished it out. Last spring was awesome and then in the fall couldn't catch a 9 incher because it had been fished out... Now it will be stunted with little ones thanks to having the larger fish population wiped out.

I don't know if I believe the bucket brigade story either, it was stocked with perch way back in the day and I bet there have always been the odd one and something just aligned for them to survive and flourish in there the last few years.

Maybe this lake is a good one to nuke and start a trophy trout fishery. Or a tiger trout lake

Bucket Brigard gas stocked
Cow lake
Phyllis Lake
Tay Lake
Struble Lake
Twin Lake
Crimson Lake
Fiesta Lake -winterkilled perch out
Several ponds near Burnstick Lake

The bulk of the stocking has happened in the past 20 years.

99% of the lake is like 4 feet deep. Would be useless for trout, I am actually surprised the perch were even doing well but there is one deeper hole so must be enough for some of them to survive.

That is why I say I wouldn't be surprised if the perch were from the previous government stocking decades ago. The mild winters the past few years might have been enough to let them get a better hold whereas before maybe only the odd ones survived.

Grew up at Crimson. Never saw a perch, ever. Just minnows. I recall that according to Grandpa, those long ago stocking efforts all eventually resulted in predictable winterkills. Pretty certain the perch never made a go of it. As you mentioned, it's pretty much a big slough. Bucket brigade is almost certainly responsible for their presence this time around. And like before, they didn't last very long...
