Smile Savage 114/14 in Stainless Fluted

Hi all, I was in a local sporting goods store the other day and came across a model 14 in stainless fluted barrel in.223 and a model 114 stainless fluted in .338 win mag. I have a model 114 in .300 win mag with blues barrel. It's one of my favorite guns with the classic walnut stock. I remember savage producing the guns in stainless, I think they stopped production in 2011-2012. but for the life of me I can't remember ever seeing a fluted version offered or any chambered in .338 win mag. Also I can't find any information on them on the web or savages web site. Did they start bringing a stainless version back into production or is this possibly a maybe somewhat rare limited run ? Thanks !

Savage can build a custom rifle for you from any of their current production parts. At least that's what I've read, maybe the owner had a a few made up to sell in the store?

There was a limited run of stainless fluted. P&D in Edmonton had a few at one time. Very nice looking.

Thanks for the info skidderman. They are a nice looking gun that's for sure. Looking forward to putting some glass on them and seeing what they can do.

I agree! They are very nice rifles and you'll like how they shoot. I own 4 savages and they perform very well for the price tag you pay. What are you thinking for glass?

I am going to have to let the "fun fund" build up again after the purchase lol but I have a vx-6 on by X-bolt and it is a great scope ! 2x12-42 would like to top the .338 in the same scope, CDS dial and all. I would like to get it in silver but I'm not sure if you can get a vx-6 in silver. As for the .223 I haven't decided what to outfit it with yet. Maybe a vx-3L or a vx-2 that I can still get away with medium rings. One thing I like about the vx-2 is there are a few options for silver colored scopes.

What's do you have for savages duster ? I bought the X bolt because I liked the look and feel of the dura touch stock and I still haven't got it to shoot better then say a pop can diameter. Maybe I haven't found the right ammo yet or the barrel is still getting broke in. The savage will damn near cloverleaf

This is the best group I shot with my .308 using 175gr Berger BTLR bullets.
