Default Lougheed House vandalized over the weekend

Quote:
Staff at Lougheed House in Calgary have reported the historic estate was targeted by vandals over the weekend – days after former Premier Peter Lougheed passed away.

According to reports, the mansion was targeted at some point late Saturday or early Sunday.

The vandals apparently managed to climb up to the second story of the mansion, and tag the metal roof of the secondary tower with graffiti.

A chimney and an east-facing sandstone wall were also spray-painted.

The mansion was once owned by Peter Lougheed’s grandfather, Sir James Alexander Lougheed.

It was built in 1891, and was originally known as ‘Beaulieu’.

The house is now operated by the Lougheed House Conservation Society – after it was designated a Provincial Historic Resource in 1976, and the Historical Society of Alberta researched the possibility of restoring the building in 1988..

Lougheed House was declared a National Historic Site in 1995, and opened as a Public Heritage Centre in 2005.

Unbelievable. Complete and total lack of respect.

Yup, complete lack of respect is right. I might add that there is a complete lack of consequences for these little darlings too.

Your giving them too much crdit, they probably don't have the brains to put the two names together. More like" hey, there's a good spot for some tags! Let's go"

No, that took way too much effort for those kind. Especially when there's walls and rail cars they can drive right up to.

Hold your horses Mutter.

It might be local talent.

Let us wait and find out who these skunks are.

I am very interested in who would do this sort of thing.

My money is on one of the local flat brim gangs and I suspect it was done intentionally for the notoriety.

Ok, gotta ask, what do you mean by easterners. I'm from nfld and we have a lot.of history back home and we are damn proud of it. I see more old traditions back east than o have ever seen in Alberta, but i moved here and now Alberta history and.heritage is mine aswell.

Please, tell us what you really think.

More likely a common idiot. Someone so dense they would stereotype a group of individuals without any knowledge of their culture, traditions, heritage or historical figures.
