Default serious cougar question

i am confused. figured i'd pick up a cougar liscence just in case while wolf hunting. i called the cougar hotline listed in the regs. to see whats happenning and they gave info. based on "management zones". i looked at the wmu map but cannot figure out what or where these "mngt. zones" are. i am sure it is something obvious that i am missing. can anyone clarify? thanks.

....also cannot see anything about shooting a lynx. i know bobcat is ok.

Not sure about the cougar management zones waterninja, but lynx are off-limits for hunting as they are considered a fur-bearing animal for trapping.

Just google Alberta cougar quotas and you will find everything you need.

Ya cougar zones are different than WMU'S. Cat zones sometimes are up to 3 WMU's or parts

Bobcat has a quota/seasons as well....it is not a free for all. Not sure where you are hunting but there likely are no Bobcats North of Calgary. The zones with seasons are all down South.

Bobcat
A resident may, without a licence from November 1 - February 28, 2014, hunt (but not trap) bobcat in WMUs 102, 104, 106, 108, 112, 116, 118, 119 and in the portion of WMU 110 that lies east of highway 2 and south of highway 3. The use of dogs is prohibited. All kills must be registered at a Fish and Wildlife office.

quite a few cma's have allready filled their quota and are closed. must have been a good year for couger hunting.

Its pretty hard to tell a male from a female if you call one in while wolf hunting, so unless both quotas are open its a risky shot. Areas and qoutas close fast like that most years
