Default Using helix 5 for ice fishing

Hey guys,

I have a Humminbird helix 5 GPS CHIRP G2 in my boat and wanted to use it for ice fishing as a flasher/sonar.

I'm having trouble finding out what carry case/tranducer/battery etc. I need for this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Humminbird makes a backpack style case for it and everybody sells them. Just google it and lots out there.

I managed to find a place that sells the case, bracket, battery and transducer but it's almost $300...

I almost feel like I'm better off buying a cheap humminbird flasher?

Build your own. I did for my 7 and is probably better than theirs at 1/4 the cost or less.

I have a helix 5 that I zip tie to the handle of a car battery that I use. With the ice fishing transducer. When I'm in my shack I plug my led lights into the same battery. Pretty plain but it works

Find a pelican case on Kijiji big enough for batter finder and ducer use the finder cradle bolt it to the bottom of the case with wing nots so you can take it out and use it on the boat in the summer. I mounted a scotty reviver on boat and on pelican case so it just clicks in and off you go.

You can purchase the XI 9 1521 ice transducer for $120+taxes at most places then look to YouTube for ideas for a carrying case. Real dirt cheap ways to do it.
