Default My 2009 Pronghorn with pics

After a seven year wait i was tagged out early opening morning. A friend and i have spent hours/days/weeks spotting and getting permission for the right one since i found out i was drawn. We were able to spot this guy about two weeks ago and knew right away that he had what i wanted. The problem we were having each time we went out looking for him was the transition of the rut ending and how everything was moving around and grouping up. Opening morning we went down to where we put him to bed the night before and what do you know he’s not there. There was not a lot of traffic around there so we thought we had lots of time to locate him, well i was wrong come legal hunting light the sh*t hit the fan and there were trucks every where shooting up a storm. There was a fair size herd about a mile away from where we seen him the night before & thought he might of hooked up with them but with a quick scan he was thankfully not in there because we wouldn’t of stood a chance with the amount of hunters pursuing the herd. We ended up going back to his original location and found him about an 1/8th of a mile away in a little dip in the field. My shot was just under 400 yards but right on the money with my sako 25-06 shooting 117 grain bullets and looking through a leupold 3.5-10x50mm b&c reticle scope. The end result being probably my biggest antelope I will ever shoot with a green score of 86 inch net. His measurements of his larger side are as follows length-15 1/8, base 7 2/8, 2nd circ 7 5/8, 3rd circ 4 2/8, 4th circ 3 1/8 & the prong being 6 6/8. I threw in a couple of pics of him beside my brothers last year 73 6/8 net officially scored horns for a comparison in size for every one.

Congrats, what a beauty. Sure is good to see the comparison of the two bucks, that says it all with the extra mass.

Thats exactly why i did it, alot of people think that if they look high they must be good when the mass although some times hard to field judge is a major part of the score.
