sst or interbond?
Well I'm done my political rant for the time being, let's get back to something important like reloading. I've got a moose draw to get ready for, I have used 175gr Partitions for years as my go to moose medicene in my 7mm rm. But having bought a new LnL press from hornady I have a voucher for free lead to use up. Has anyone used Hornady's SST or Interbond on heavy game, if so what caliber and load were you shootin? Should I stick with noslers they've worked spectacular in past years. My hand loads are 63gr./H-4831, cci250 primers, seated .015" off the lands.

That's a tough one, as depending on the prefrence your rifle may or may not have, choosing one over the other may be problimatic.
I'd see if a member here will loan you a few of each type bullet to try, and see what your rifle prefers. (no I don't currently have either in the size and weight you request)
I'f all things turn out equal, I'd be leaning heavily towards the IB's, but only if they shoot good in my rifle.

My experience with SSTs is that they are a heck of a low velocity bullet but tend to blow to pieces upon impact at higher speeds. They are my abusolute favourite bullet in a muzzleloader but I haven't been impressed from what I've seen in the .30TC and .300WM. The Interbond on the other hand, seems to perform admirably at higher velocities. JMHO but I'd avoid the SST in the 7mmRM.

I have shot all of them in my 7 mag, the SSTs would be the last chioce of the 3 in my books, they shoot well, but are meat manglers. The IBs would be a better choice, but if the Partitions shoot, keep on using them as that would be my first choice for a swamp donkey.

We've had great results with the 180 and 200 grain Accubonds in a couple of .300WM's and my .300 RUM; IB's are similar bullets. I'd give those a try.

If you can find them I'd go with the 139 gr GMX.

i used 162grain ssts for my 7mm rem mag...... they are very accurate but like metioned before.. they are meat wreckers.. i have recovered two, both from whitetails. One shot slightly quartering away at 100yards about 55% retention and lots of meat loss... the other was at a whitetail doe at 300yards and weight retention was about the same 54-56%, but they sure do drop deer like a son of a gun. This year i have 150gr e-tips loaded up and im getting them to group just under 1" at 100yards over 69grains of h1000 seated as far out as my detachable clip would let me to get as close to the lans as i can., the 162grain ssts where loaded over 70grains of h100 seated to the depth of the ring. I also shoot 160np as well and they work just fine too.

I am a big fan of the etips. No lead, expand better than Barnes at lower velocities and won't blow up at higher. These are IMO "the bullets" of bullets, just as long as you can find a good accurate load.

I wonder if Nosler honors the Hornady voucher?

The plain 175gr Interlocks have worked well for me in my 7mm rem mag. I've shot through a few moose with them.
I worked up a load for a buddies 338-378 with the 225gr Interbonds. They shot very well. I've worked up loads with the SSTs and they shot well. I haven't taken any game with them though. This year, I'll try them out in the 270.

I've shot nosler partitions in 140, 150 ,160, and 175 grain offerings as well as interlocks in 154, 162 and 175 grain offerings in my .280 rem. They all shoot well some a tad better than others and all have killed game well without to much meat damage. My go to load is a 140 partition for deer and 162 btsp interlock for the bigger stuff.Same result with both...only one degree of dead!
I personally would stay away from the sst, FWIW they can be quite explosive and thats not what i want in a moose bullet. Can't comment on the interbond as i have yet to shoot them.

I think I'll stick with Nosler PT's for my moose load, Iknow they shoot well and hit hard. I think I'll maybe use the voucher for some .243 A-max bullets for coyotes ,or just general plinking. All the hype on bonded bullets has even gun writers on the fence, I notice alot stick with what works for them regardless of brand.

Those gmax bullets would be good for moose out of a 7mm. Hornady says they need about 2000fps to open up, after looking at their promo pictures I would say that you'd need around 2500. In the picture of the 2000 fps bullet I would say it has failed to mushroom IMO.

I'm thinking a guy should do at test of these newer bullets just to compare them. I already have some barnes-x loaded up, I may buy some e-tips from nosler and some gmx from hornady . see how they each expand at 200 yrds. I'll usaually shoot into 16" of wet news paper placed infront of the 200yrd gong at the range, seems to work ok.
